Kubernetes & Linux Platform Operations for the Danish Armed Forces

In a strategic project for the Danish Armed Forces, we supported the operation and further development of a secure, Linux-based platform infrastructure used in a highly regulated and security-critical environment. The core of the assignment centered around Kubernetes platform operations, where we worked with Rancher-managed clusters to ensure stable, secure, and traceable container orchestration. A strong focus was placed on day-to-day operations, lifecycle management, and maintaining platform reliability under strict security and compliance requirements. Alongside Kubernetes, the work involved extensive Linux system administration on SUSE-based environments, including hardening, patching, upgrades, and operational troubleshooting. Close attention was paid to ensuring that both the underlying operating systems and the container platforms adhered to defined security standards while remaining maintainable and scalable. We collaborated closely with multiple technical teams to resolve complex platform-related challenges, improve operational workflows, and support development teams running workloads on the platform. All work was conducted using agile methodologies, with a strong emphasis on controlled change management, documentation, and security awareness. The result was a robust and well-operated Kubernetes and Linux platform capable of supporting mission-critical systems in a high-security defense context.
